Alexander Calder, Roaring with his Circus Lion, 1971, Courtesy of Calder Foudation (via Kaufmann-Mercantile)
The Calder Circus is one of my favorite pieces. It was a series of miniature pieces that he built out of wire, wood, string and other found materials to make into his own "circus" show.

One of my favorite portraits of Calder wearing a mask he made on his nose. Showing his childlike and playful energy.
