ode to calder.

Today is the 113th birthday of one of favorite artists, Alexander Calder. He was an American artist who is credited for inventing mobile sculptures.  Today's Google Doodle is an interactive ode to him, a spinning mobile.

The Calder Circus is one of my favorite pieces.  It was a series of miniature pieces that he built out of wire, wood, string and other found materials to make into his own "circus" show.

One of my favorite portraits of Calder wearing a mask he made on his nose. Showing his childlike and playful energy.
